Frequently Asked Questions
(New families)
What is the curriculum at St. Catherine’s?
We use a number of standards to define our curriculum. As a baseline, we meet all standards set by the State of Missouri. As part of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, we also follow standards for Catholic education in the St. Louis Metropolitan area.
What are the hours of the school?
School hours are from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm each day for students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade. Extended care is available after school.
Do the students wear uniforms?
Students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade do wear uniforms. Students in the K-8 school have several days in the year where uniforms are not worn such as picture day and spirit days. Occasionally, students can earn a coveted “NUT” Card (no uniform today) which they thoroughly enjoy!
What is your enrollment process?
Families with students already enrolled in the school are given priority to enroll additional children. Members of St. Catherine Labouré Parish will be admitted into additional openings. If there are other openings that can be filled, then we will admit Catholics from other parishes as the next priority, and finally we will admit any other families. See Enrollment for more information regarding application, tuition, and deadlines.
What is the class size at SCL?
Each Kindergarten class is limited to twenty students, and there are currently three Kindergarten classrooms. Kindergarten is the only grade with three classrooms. If, at any time, the enrollment at St. Catherine Labouré drops, at the request of the pastor and principal, and with the Board of Education approval, the class size can be adjusted to meet increased operating costs of the school and expenditures due to lack of increased tuition.
For grades One through Eight, the cap in each classroom will be twenty-eight students, with a maximum of thirty students being allowed at the discretion of the principal. Grades One through Eight have two classrooms for each grade. If, at any time, the enrollment at St. Catherine Labouré School drops, at the request of the pastor and principal, and with Board of Education approval, the class size can be adjusted to meet increased operating costs of the school and expenditures due to lack of increased tuition, not to exceed thirty students.
